Definition:

A document that allows the temporary importation of mechandise into member countries while eliminating the value-added taxes(VAT), duties, and the posting of security normally required at the time of importation.

Key Elements

1. Document can be used for goods traveling as "Commerical Samples," "Professional Equipment," or "Exhibition and Fairs"

2. Valid for a period of up to one year

3. Can be used for as many trips to member countries as required during the validity period

4. Can be used in over 90 member countries asn territories

10. Carnet is presented to the customs authorities of the Holder's country upon exportation of the goods upon importation into foreign country, upon re-exportation from the foreign country, and upon re-importation into the Holder's country
